HIV PCR RNA Test
Apr 3, 2012

Hello, a month ago i had protected sex with an escort and well the fear of contracting aids pushed me to getting a PCR test at 9-11 days. Which is the recommended window period from the CDC. The test results came back negative with a test from 20 to 10,0000 copies per/ml. Should i get tested again just to make sure...thank you

Response from Dr. Hightow-Weidman

Hello there- At 11 days it would be likely that the PCR test would be accurate if you were acutely infected but I would recommend retesting to be sure. Take care,

LHW
