| Does my risk increase the window period? Mar 8, 2012 I had 2 high risk exposures ( unprotected oral sex and unprotected vaginal sex) with 2 different prostitutes more than 3 months back. The first exposure was 2 days before the 2nd exposure. I got my HIV antibody test done on the 90th day post the second exposure which turned out to be negative. My question is do 2 succesive high risk HIV exposures with a gap of 2 days between one another increase the window period for testing beyond 90 days. Also do i need further testing?? |

Response from Mr. Cordova
Hi there: The answer to your question is no. Two high-risk HIV exposures with a gap of two days between them does not increase the window period. Also, you did not have two high-risk exposures. Oral sex has been and remains a low-risk activity. The sexual act itself is low-risk. It doesn't matter if it's with a prostitute or your girlfriend. In health, Richard | |||||||||
