Mar 4, 2012
I'm a + man with undetectable VL (<40) & CD4 280/20%.
Recently, my 1 year old baby scratch my neck until bleeding. Can I pass the virus to her, if , let say she lick her finger after that? Is there anything else that i should aware of passing the virus to her? Is it safe to do the oral sex with my wife? she is negative

Hi We know that having an undetectable viral load decreases transmission dramatically. Your baby scratching you, would have to have blood on the finger and then expose it to an open wound, sucking on the finger would not pose a risk unless there we cuts and opening in the mouth. Is HIV transmission possible yes, probable no.
Yes you and your wife can have oral sex, either giving or receiving. Again great that you are on meds and have an undetectable viral load.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
