do i have to worry
Jan 28, 2012

i am dating this girl who was exposed two years ago to hiv we both tested(oct 16 2011) recently (rapid test) and the results were negative am i ok...

Response from Ms. Southall

Hi, From what you describe you are both OK and there is no need to worry about getting HIV from the exposure that occurred two years ago. Here is the standard for HIV tests, whether oral swab or blood are very accurate at 28 days, and conclusive at 90 days. However, when someone has had a known exposure to someone with HIV, you could perform a six month test, just to be extra cautious.

Be well and stay safe, Shannon
