| "landlord/ tenant disclosure laws in california" around HIV Jan 27, 2012 we rented a room off craigslist from a lady who owns her home signed ayear lease contract. and 11/2 months into it she was drunk a said she was hiv pos. is that legal not to inform us first. |

Thanks for your question, There is absolutely no need for the woman who rented out a room to you to inform you (or any casual contact for that matter) of her HIV status. She has no responsibility to tell anyone because there's no risk of her infecting anyone with HIV through casual contact. If this is your ultimate concern, rest assured that you are not at risk. As a prevention specialist, I'd be more concerned for her.. since she's the one that's immuno-compromised and must attend to her health on a daily basis. Just a thought. Hope that helps!
