Hep C and HIV coinfection
Nov 9, 2011
Hi, If after an intercourse, someone gets infected with Hepatitis C and HIV at the same time, does the window period for antibody test changes for such a person or is 3 months after the exposure still sufficient? Thanks!
Response from Mr. Cordova
The only time that the three month window would change would be if there was a known exposure to Hep C and HIV and the person developed Acute Hep C infection. Then and only then, would the window period change 12 months.
