|Please help, Hep C and/or HIV
Aug 29, 2011
Please please answer this question..
I thought I escaped HIV after 6 months... symptoms led to further testing and suddenly at 7 months I test positive for Hep C.. :( (ECLIA) but CMIA negative and PCR negative..
Another ECLIA was ordered (from another lab) and it was negative, I am waiting for another PCR result.
Do I need to test HIV again? Last tests at 7 month was negative (ECLIA, WB and PCR).
I have symptoms like mildly enlarged spleen (according to doctor, slighly high liver, fatique, low CD4 (450-500)..
This is a nightmare!

Your positive hepatitis C ECLIA appears to have been a false positive as evidenced by a negative CMIA and undetectable PCR as well as a negative subsequent ECLIA from a different laboratory. I see no cause for concern. Repeat HIV testing beyond the six-month mark would not be warranted based on a false-positive hepatitis C ECLIA.
