disease from my own sex toy
Aug 7, 2011

Hi Dr. I have read a few articles from the site and found them very insightful. So i dare to ask a question that I have been wondering all these while.

Can i get disease such as gonorrhea, syphilis, etc from using my own sex toys? i insert a dildo or butt plug through my anus, after i take it out, i saw blood on my sex toy. Is it possible that I can catch disease form my own sex toys? I do clean them up with a anti bacterial sex toy cleaner before and after use.

Thank you. -wyatt

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hey, Wyatt.

You're wondering if you can contract an STD from your own butt plug??? Wyatt, STDs are infections that can be transmitted from an infected person to an uninfected person via unsafe sex. So are you perhaps worried that your butt plug has been cheating on you behind your back (so to speak)??? If that is not the case and if you're convinced that Mr. Butt Plug has remained faithful and true, then your chance of contracting a STD, including HIV, from your backdoor-buddy is nonexistent.

Dr. Bob
