Jun 13, 2011

I am really worried about two events which happened recently. i came in contact with a scissors which were used by someone before a longtime. 2. I came in contact with a prechewed gum. I touched it. and after sometime i put my hands in my mouth without my conscious. Is there any chance for transmission of hiv. please let me know. I would be really grateful to you.

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi.

"Coming in contact with a scissors which were used by someone before a longtime" is not a risk for acquiring HIV!

Similarly touching pre-chewed gum and then putting your hands in your mouth is not an HIV risk! See link below.
