unprotected sex
Jun 3, 2011

what are the chances of getting infected during unprotected sex with no broken skin?if i am negative and my patner is positive and we had unprotected sex without knowing each others status, am i at risk the insertive?

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi,

The estimated per-act statistical risk for acquiring HIV from unprotected insertive sex with a partner confirmed to be HIV positive is dependent on the type of sex -- oral, vaginal or anal. (The risks are 0.5, 5 and 6.5 per 10,000 exposures respectively.)

HIV testing at the three- and six-month marks is warranted.

Good luck.

Dr. Bob
