Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello, This is yet another case of an HIV diagnostic test being ordered inappropriately. Western Blot (WB) tests should only be run to confirm a positive ELISA. You had two negative ELISAs; consequently, your WB results are meaningless. The p66 and equivocal p24 bands are false-positive/equivocal results and demonstrate once again why this test should not be used for preliminary screening! Dr. Bob | |||||||||
