hi doctor bob well i am a positive guy for almost 3 years, taking medication, doing fine. i have been closely following and reading about various drugs in making, various immune therapies, and ofcourse many a times failed trials also. i have read many a times about eramune 01 and eramune 02 trials initiated recently. i was just wondering what exactly they do in trial, they just check the concept, and then leave , or they actually try till last second to cure the patient. i mean if they have proof that such particular thing can eradicate latent hiv , will they actually declare in time or soon that yes, we have cured somebody and all worried, suffering, frustrated people who fight with this wicked virus daily can feel hope ful. i read your blog also, about cure search heats up, this time you were sounding more optimistic than ever before (2 yrs back) so are u also counting on these trials... like eramune 01, eramune 02, zolinza drug, il-7, zinc finger .. i cud short list all these as they seem most promising. thanks regards and wish you good health always

Eramune 01 and Eramune 02 clinical trials are still underway. I discussed these studies briefly in my recent blog The Search for the Cure Heats Up! Part Three Cure Strategies; Cure Realities Eramune 01 is a clinical trial adding interleukin-7 to an intensified combination antiretroviral regimen. Eramune 02 is evaluating a therapeutic vaccine combined with intensified antiretroviral therapy. Immune-based therapy clinical trials are complex to design, often difficult to conduct, and can involve some degree of risk. These studies are still considered preliminary. If successful, they will bring us closer to a "cure."

Yes, I am becoming increasingly optimistic about the potential for some type of cure (either functional or complete viral eradication).
