Can i rely on HIV home test kit tool ?
Apr 28, 2011

Dr. Bob, i am the one from middle east who is scared for HIV. You have answered my 1st question but ignored several others. I am scared of my shameful act where i topped one of my friend 5 years ago. Now any kind of symptom scared me for HIV. I can not take any test here because they will deport the person who has HIV. Not only hiv , patient with tuberculosis , hepatitis are also deported as we are living here as resident. After long searching in internet i have decided to order a home test kit tool for testing myself. the site i am depending on is www.hivkits.co.uk/ . i want your advice whether i can depend on my test or not. I am promising i will donate for your foundation as much as i can . Now i can feel the pain of HIV patient

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi,

I unfortunately do not have any personal experience with the company you reference. However, HIV testing is now fairly well standardized around the world and most test kits are quite reliable. Please note this is merely a screening test. If you test positive on this test, you would need a more specific test before being diagnosed HIV positive. If you test negative, your result is considered a true negative and no additional testing would be warranted.

Thanks for your support of The Robert James Frascino AIDS Foundation (www.concertedeffort.org). It's warmly appreciated. In return I'm sending my good-luck/good-health karma that your test results will be negative.

Good luck.

Dr. Bob
