Dealing with friends/family on PEP
Apr 14, 2011
on day 5 of PEP. I can never possibly be able to tell my friends and family. Not only am I worried about the reactions, due to limited knowledge, they may stop coming near me. How do I deal with this? For 28 days, I will kill myself if I just kept it to myself. I am already feeling quite lonely. What should I do? Any one else you know had similar experiences? Are are there any special licensed therapists to handle just this? Your response would be highly appreciated!

If one of your relatives or a close friend was going through what you are, wouldn't you want to know and wouldn't you be supportive? Perhaps your reluctance to disclose your situation has more to do with guilt than with how a very close friend or family member might actually respond to your situation. Any psychiatrist and most psychologists should be able to help you cope with your anxiety during the 28-day course of PEP and the six months of follow-up HIV testing.
