Not the question you already answered a million times! Feb 15, 2011 Hello Doctor: Okay so we have established that the insertive partner in UNprotected anal sex carries a significant risk of infection (though of course not as high a risk as for the receptive partner). How about the risk of the insertive partner in protected (i.e., latex condom which was never taken off, never broke or slipped during the act) anal sex? I'm assuming the chances must be low, but still quantifiable as a number? Thanks! |

 Hi, HIV cannot permeate intact latex. No way. No how. Look, this is not rocket science. Latex-condom protected sex is indeed "protected," assuming the condom was used properly and did not fail (break). Improper use of the condom or condom failure (breakage) carries the same HIV-transmission risk as unprotected sex. It really is just that straightforward. Dr. Bob | ||||||||
