HIV Test Feb 6, 2011 An ex partner of mine just took an HIV test and was told he was negative. However, he was told that his body indicated that he had come into contact with the HIV, so he has contacted me. I will arrange a test for myself, but my question is: Can the HIV test indicate if you have come into contact with HIV if you test negative? |

 Hi, No, a negative HIV test cannot indicate that someone has come into contact with HIV but not been infected. Perhaps he was contacted by the health department or told by a sexual partner that he had been exposed to HIV and needed to be HIV tested. He might then in turn advise his recent sexual partners that they might have been exposed as well and should get tested. Dr. Bob | ||||||||
