Positive ELISA negative western blot Dec 18, 2010 I was recently tested for HIV and came back positive ELISA but negative western blot. Should I go back and get another test done to make sure its negative? Last test was June 2010. I do work in healthcare with patients that are HIV +, I have been with the same man 11 years and no drug use. Will my ELISA always be positive? If so can I ever donate blood or will I be put on list, and will the Health dept de notified? |

 Hello, A positive ELISA and negative Western Blot is considered a negative HIV-screening test. This, most likely, will not prevent you from donating blood. No, the health department will not be notified as your combined test is considered a negative test. Dr. Bob | ||||||||
