Dry Throat Legit Question
Dec 16, 2010

since september i have been tested 4 times and they have all been negative, i have anxiety as the doctors would say and i have convinced my self to have HIV, i have this dry throat that is just here and wont go away, i also have post nasal drip im terrified can it be HIV?

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi,

If you've had negative HIV-antibody tests out three months or longer from your last potential exposure, HIV is not your problem and your HIV fears are unwarranted.

If you have a persistent dry throat and postnasal drip, see an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor for an evaluation. However, remember these symptoms are not HIV related.

If you continue to have problems with anxiety, ask your doctor for a referral for counseling (psychotherapy) and/or anti-anxiety medications.

Good luck.

Dr. Bob
