|Does reflux Esophagitis means HIV +?

HI Dr Does reflux Esophagitis means HIV +? i had an endoscopy done and have been diagnosed with it. i have had risky exposures all protected though. wondering if refulx esophagitis means hiv or hiv induced esophagitis is called Candida esophagits. please respond. can the doctor find out if its hiv related by taking a biopsy done?

Hello D Guy,
Reflux esophagitis is not directly related to HIV disease.
Candida esophagitis (a totally different condition caused by a fungal overgrowth) can be associated with HIV/AIDS in some cases.
A biopsy will not determine if your problem is HIV related. The only way to know if you are HIV infected is to get an HIV-specific diagnostic test.
