|Working girl & a broken condom
Nov 23, 2010
I had sex with a working girl is Thailand, my condom broke & I pulled out within 20-30 seconds. My friend advised me to take PEP because Thailand is a high risk country. The hospital was reluctant to proscribe the drugs (saying it was low risk), but I persisted & they finally proscribed: Lopinavir/Ritonavir 200mg/50mg (2 every 12 hours) & Zilarvir (1 every 12 hours)........ Before I start taking the PEP I have been scanning the web for info on the drugs & there side effects (which seem plentiful); I came across your brilliant site. Does the dosage & drugs proscribed sound accurate?
Id really appreciate your advice.

Yes, the medications and dosages are appropriate for nPEP (nonoccupational post-exposure prophylaxis). A full course of treatment is 28 days and the medications should be started ASAP (and no later than 72 hours from the time of your exposure). You can read much more about PEP in the archives of this forum. Have a look.
