Eating Disorder
Oct 14, 2010

Thank you for providing such a wonderful resource! I know this question may seem repetitive, but I needed to ask anyways. I developed an odd eating disorder which made me feel like I needed to clean out my rectum of all fecal matter using my fingers. I initially only did this in my home bathroom, but that was no longer an option when I went to college. Occasionally, I would clean off my fingers with toilet water. I was usually careful to make sure there wasn't anything visible on the toilet, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't at risk. From everything I've read on the website I am not, but I have been experiencing severe anxiety lately. I am in psychiatric care and psychologcial counseling for my anxiety and eating disorder but it would help me tremendously helpful to my treatment if I knew I wasn't at risk. Thank you so much!

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi,

Eating disorder? Hmm. Sounds more like a pooping disorder to me, but OK.

Your HIV risk is nonexistent.

I strongly encourage you to continue your psychiatric care.

Dr. Bob
