| Another lesbian Jul 6, 2010 Hi Dr.Bob! I know that cunnilingus is a low-risk activity in terms of HIV. But what about other STDs? What STDs are transmitted through oral sex? Thank you very much for your help! D. |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi D., Welcome to the forum. When considering STDs and oral sex, it's important to note there are different levels of risk, depending on the STD (and the type of oral sex!). For instance, STDs that cause sores and blisters (like syphilis and herpes) can be easily transmitted/acquired from all types of oral sex -- getting or giving. Other common STDs that are possible to transmit/acquire from oral sex include gonorrhea and chlamydia. Finally, you are correct: HIV is not easy to get from any kind of oral sex. You can read more about oral sex risk in the archives of this forum. Be well D. Dr. Bob | |||||||||
