Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello, Unprotected sex does place you at risk for STDs, including HIV. That you managed to contract HSV, HPV, gonorrhea and chlamydia all from the same woman is indeed impressive. Your undetectable qualitative HIV DNA PCR at 6 weeks and negative EIA at 98 days are extremely encouraging. The CDC recommends one additional confirmatory HIV-antibody test at the six-month mark from the date of exposure for folks who had a significant HIV exposure to a source known to be HIV infected. You can contact the CDC if you want a full explanation of their rationale for this six-month test. It's important to note your conundrum could have been completely avoided by using a condom! I'm fairly certain you've now learned this lesson. Good luck with your six-month test. Dr. Bob | |||||||||
