hey doc quick question quick donation

Mar 8, 2010

does ngu increase hiv risk to insertive partner

Response from Dr. Frascino

If the insertive partner has almost any type of STD (including NGU), his risk for acquiring and/or transmitting HIV would be increased. This is primarily due to increased inflammation in the urethra. Some STDs (like syphilis, herpes, etc.) can produce lesions (chancres, ulcers, blisters, etc.). These are points of easier access for transmission of HIV.
