Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi, The generation of an HIV-antibody test assay does not change the seroconversion "window period." A negative HIV-antibody test at the three-month mark is generally considered conclusive, barring extenuating circumstances. For instance, if your "plenty of symptoms" were truly indicative of HIV disease or if your partner was confirmed to be HIV positive, a repeat test at the six-month mark would be warranted. However, it remains highly unlikely under any circumstance that someone who tested HIV negative at three months would subsequently seroconvert between the three- and six-month timeframe. Good luck.
