| URGENT! Is PEP recommended for my case? (exposure happened an hour ago) Jan 15, 2010 Hi Dr. Frascino, I had sex with a 26 year old male who I met online. He says he doesn't have any diseases, so I let him perform oral sex on me (he says he gets tested every two months because of his job). I didn't suck his penis. The oral sex lasted for about 30 seconds. And then I ejaculated into his mouth. He spit it out right away. Should I start PEP? How significant was my exposure? And if I had a disease (HIV), is it possible that he got it? Thanks! |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi, Thirty seconds? Is your nickname Quick-Draw McGraw? The HIV risk from oral sex is very low, particularly for the insertive partner. PEP is not warranted. If you remain worried, get a single HIV-antibody test at the three-month mark. Good luck. Dr. Bob | |||||||||
