| H1N1 "target" population Oct 21, 2009 The H1N1 "target" population right now includes Health Care workers (including EMTs, etc.). I believe the next "target" group is elementary age, high school, college and pregnant women. When do HIV/AIDS (+) people fit into the "target" population to receive the vaccine? |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi, HIVers are included in the target population. The CDC's target populations for H1N1 vaccination include: Pregnant Women. Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than six months of age. Health care and emergency medical services personnel. All people from six months through 24 years of age. Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza. This includes HIVers! (Remember to get the injectable "killed-virus" vaccine rather than the FluMist nasal spray "attenuated live virus" vaccine if you are HIV positive!) Dr. Bob | |||||||||
