Help freaking out! Personal trainer scratched and drew blood! PEP ??
Oct 18, 2009

Hi Dr. Bob...I am a personal trainer and my client and I were joking around and while he took his hand off my shoulder he accidently scratched me on my arm which drew blood..im not sure if he had blood on his fingers or not and now its freaking me out...is there any sort of risk and do I need PEP?

Thank you and god bless

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hello Freaking Out Personal Trainer,

Even if your client were an HIV-positive Freddy Kruger or Edward Scissorhands, your HIV risk would be nonexistent. Do you need PEP? No, of course not. What you do need is to read the archives of this forum, paying particular attention to how HIV is and is not transmitted.

Dr. Bob
