| hiv- index value Oct 15, 2009 Dear Doctor, I had a panel 083824 Hiv 1/0/2 abs test done. The test read Hiv 1/0/2 abs- index value with a result of <1.00 and the ref. interval was <1.00. Having a <1.00 result make me close to be positive. Should it be less than <1.00 for a result? |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hello, Your HIV test is negative. Period. You are not close to being positive. The "<" means "less than." Consequently there is no such thing as "less than <1.00" (i.e. "less than less than 1.00"). Dr. Bob | |||||||||
