| Probably ANOTHER Band-Aid Question Oct 13, 2009 Hello Dr. Bob! I'm sure this will be a stupid question, but of course, I'm convinced that it's different from others/cause for concern right now. Anyway, I was doing laundry yesterday in a community laundry facility on campus and as I was putting my clothes into the washer I found a band-aid. I was really grossed out & washed my clothes again. Then when I went to actually trasnfer the clothes to the dryer, I noticed a VERY bloody Band-Aid lying on the floor. I proceeded to put my clothes in the dryer, a little concerned that they had come from my washing machine, but did it anyway. Then I get back later & the band-aid was gone from the floor and someone had removed and folded my laundry and placed it on top of the dryer. I am concerned that whomever this person was, he or she picked up the band-aid & threw it away & then folded my clothes & stuff. I assume that there's not risk because HIV doesn't live outside the body, but it was just so bloody & gross & I was also wondering if Hep C risk is there at all. I again, assume not, but some reassurance would be great. Thank you so much. A donation to your foundation is on its way! |

Response from Dr. Frascino
Hi, Your assumptions regarding HIV and hepatitis C related to the bloody bandaid at the "sit -and-spin laundromat" are correct! No risk! Hey, look at the bright side. Someone folded your tighty whites for you! That's a bonus. Dr. Bob | ||||||||||
