I have been battling what I thought was Poison Ivy for 14 days now. I went to a doctor who gave me prednazone, which although altering my moods seems to have had little effect so far (3 days). Extreme itching, cant sleep at night, heat induced itching (wearing socks) it started on my ankle areas and has moved upwards. I have never scratched it so when I got a patch on my beltline I started to wonder why. then recently the area just above my genitals started to itch a lot, however with no poison ivy showing. I noticed today one sore open up from where I was scratching near my genitals. I'm quite miserable as it seems that my anus is infected also. literally the hole itself itches all the time. I was definitely around poison ivy, but i was also with a night worker the same week. Please help.

Generally speaking poison ivy responds dramatically to prednisone. If your rash is persistent or worsening, you should see a dermatologist.
