Window period
May 21, 2009

i had unprotected sex 16 months back, after window period of i year i had taken all the tests like Elisa, westeron blot and Hiv dna pcr all test results are non reactive, but i had taken indian based ART(Sidda) treatment with mis guidance of sidda doctor with our confirmation of hiv, so let me confirm by using this kind medicine to prolong widow period or am basically not infected

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hi,

If you have a negative ELIZA and WB and an undetectable DNA PCR one year after a potential exposure, you are definitively and conclusively HIV negative, even if you took a course of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
