|ORAL SEX, IS IT A RISK OR NOT
May 19, 2009
What's the real (as in non-bullshit) story about oral sex? Is it a risk or not. Yes or no? I've seen lots of guys having unprotected oral sex in sex clubs in San Francisco.

The risk of HIV transmission through oral sex has been a subject of hot debate since the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The reason this issue is so difficult to resolve definitively based on epidemiological studies is that most horned-up hot-to-trot hotties do not limit themselves to a single sexual practice, except perhaps at San Francisco's Blow Buddies sex club. (And doing clinical studies there would be a bit of a challenge!)
Basically what we can say with confidence is that the HIV-transmission/acquisition risk associated with orogenital sex (both blow jobs and cunnilingus) is very low, at best.
