I have recently been accepted to New York University into a graduate program. I am HIV positive and I have researched the school health insurance website. I have to have medical insurance through the school but I am afraid that they will deny me medical insurance and worst yet my medication. What are the laws behind schools and insurance? Or when can I get more information? I currently have insurance through my job and dont want to risk leaving my state and come to find out I dont get covered. I thank you for your help and I am very glad for all the work and help you provide us.

The university cannot discriminate against you based on your HIV-positive serostatus. If you want more details about their specific policies, I'd suggest you call anonymously and directly ask your questions without volunteering your name or any personal information. Admissions departments field these types of questions fairly regularly, so don't be shy. I'm confident you'll find the information reassuring.
