| Got Tested and Thanks Feb 11, 2009 Dr. Frascino, Just thought this little cautionary tale might help posters here. I had an irrational fear that I had contracted HIV. Instead of manning-up and getting tested, I searched the internet and completely freaked myself out. My irrationality was partly grounded in the fact that an uncle died of AIDS in the first wave of the disease in the early 90s. Finally, I got tested. Knowing is so much better than not knowing - the sleepless nights, the ridiculous self-pity and the paranoia. Dr. Frascino, your posts and this website really helped me face things and do what was right. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are making a big difference here. And for those "self-diagnosers" out there - get the test done - if you are positive the meds now are really amazing and sitting on the problem would further compromise you if you are truly positive. Thanks again Dr. - and woohoo |
