I'm 13 but it isn't a lucky number... (BIG BEAR OR BUST PART DOS )

Jan 7, 2009

I'm 13 years old and about 1 year ago I had sex with an older boy at school (16 years old) and because he pretty much forced himself on me, it wasn't protected sex and a result is that I contracted herpes 2 on my vagina. I took an HIV test as well. One rapid test at 3 months, a rapid test at 6 months and another rapid 1 year after. Ever since then I have had severe HIV anxiety. My parents are not very sensitive to the fact, and they are seperated so I don't have a great relationship with them. They feel like the forced sex, is somthing I need to "get over". They already pressed charges, but just ignored it after that.

My dad ha wild parties at his house and when he's on business trips he allows his friends to stay in his place. He has a jacuzzi spa that he doesn't use chlorine because he's allergic. His friends are very high risk people. I'm supposed to stay over the night after a party and I'm terrified to use the jacuzzi spa. I'm even scared to use my own bath tub that my family uses because I'm afraid of contracting HIV. QUESTION:

Can I get HIV throught the jacuzzi spa becuase NO CHLORINE is used and because I'm having a herpes outbreak so have sores "down there" and I also have bad acne on face/back and chest because of my stress. and i also have sever athletes foot that bleeds. Is the acne on my back and herpes on vagina, athletes feet that bleeds and no chlorine, a risk of HIV?

I don't have a job but get allowance, and i would be honored if i can donate that to you. I read your responses and how compasionate you are and only wish I could have been so lucky to have a person like you as a parent.

I hope parents read this and no that any rape, or molestation should NOT be ignored or "gotten over". Pay attention how it will affect your child in the future. Dr. Bob I can honestly say I love you.

BIG BEAR OR BUST PART DOS (Submitted Jan 6, 2009) O.K O. I guess I am irrational at times... o.k a lot of times.

1. I understand now that you CANNOT contract HIV through the spa/jacuzzi BUT just for my piece of mind... EVEN IF THERE IS NO CHLORINE??

2.I get acne on my back and sometimes bleed is that a problem or increased risk?

Please answer these LAST questions!! You will help release some major stress I've had! PLUS you are totally invited!! You bring the wine ;)

Donation applied!!

It's a bit odd to consider a 16-year-old as an "older boy," but then again it is true that 16 is older than 13. Another odd thing is that your post is so similar to another post (I combined it with your question above) that concerns "NO CHLORINE" (in capital letters) in a Jacuzzi/spa and "acne on my back and sometimes bleed." Hmm . . . remarkable coincidence, eh?

Well, whoever you are and however old you are, the answer is the same. You cannot contract HIV from a Jacuzzi/spa. That includes with or without CHLORINE, with or without acne, with or without bleeding athlete's foot, with or without vaginal herpes.

Counseling may well help you get over your irrational fears of HIV infection, rape trauma, issues regarding Dad's wild parties with "very high risk people" and whatever other issues your multiple personalities may have.

BIG BEAR OR BUST! Jan 6, 2009

You're my only way for a relaxing vacation :)

O.k so Ive been having HIV anxiety. We are leaving to big bear in a few days, and i just found out our cabin we rented has a jacuzzi/hot tub/spa...whatever it's called. Now my fear is...

1. Is there any risk of transmission through the hot tub/spa. With any blood, semen or vaginal fluid that may be left over in the jets (the thing that makes the bubbles)

2. Any risk of transmission through the shower head or bath tub?

3. Risk of transmission by using the shared pool sticks for the pool table?

I had read a while ago about the foot spa at nail salons that could be a risk of HIV because of the jets and how I guess they suction and hold the virus, so they have to use plastic over the tub you put your feet in.

This cabin rental is one that many people whom we don't know rent out. Different ages, sex, race... just random arrays of people. And I know people will be staying there and checking out the day we check in. I'm worried of blood transfer or semen/vaginal secretions that were left behind by the people of unknown status.

I guess it's similar to staying in a hotel.... But please help my understanding. I already donated money for the donation of your time you give to us. I truly, truly appreciate it!!

*If there is a risk from the hot tub/spa or shower, what is the best way to clean it to eliminate the possible transmission?

I LOVE YOU DOC! You're truly my hero.

I just sent an email of questions of transmission through spa/jacuzzi..I forgot to note that the spa is in a cabin rental that random people rent out AND with NO CLORINE!!

I have a few co-workers that are also curious about this. They are all willing to donate as well. Love you even more! XOXO

Dude, you are leaving for a Big Bear vacation in a few days and you find out your cabin has a "Jacuzzi/hot tub/spa . . . whatever." OK fine. Most guys at this point would be smiling from ear to ear, thinking about the increased nookie potential! But you, on the other hand, are freaking out about catching HIV from a previous rub-a-dub-dub in the tub. Now think this through. If HIV were really transmitted that easily, don't you think it would have wiped out the planet (or at least Las Vegas) long ago? Your HIV-acquisition risk from the "whatever" is nonexistent. Stop worrying. Grab your rubber ducky or Mr. Bubbles and dive in for some good clean fun.

By the way, your fears of contracting HIV from showerheads, bathtubs or pool sticks are equally irrational. I suggest you spend some time perusing the information on this site, paying particular attention to how HIV is and is not transmitted. Otherwise your next question to me might concern contracting HIV from me through the computer screen.

Stop worrying and start vacationing.
