hiv testing and iga nephropathy
Nov 29, 2008
hi doc im curious if iga nephropathy(bergers disease) can affect seroconversion as i was diagnose with it about four years ago through a medical check up in e army.. i have been on enalapril which is an ace inhibitor ever since. the docs said that im doing well and my kidneys are functioning normally however i am worried if my medical condition and medication can delay seroconversion.. thanks
Response from Dr. Frascino
IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease) does not affect HIV seroconversion or the accuracy of HIV tests. ACE inhibitors do not affect HIV seroconversion or the accuracy of HIV tests.
