if he "pulls out" am I safe?
Sep 28, 2008

If a man does not ejaculate inside, or "pills out" before ejaculating, would HIV not be transmitted? (HIV is in the semen, so if the semen doesnt touch, no risk? or less risk?)

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hello,

If he "pulls out" (or even "pills out") before popping his cork, you are not safe from HIV (or other STDs)! HIV can be found in pre-cum (pre-ejaculate) and pre-cum can transmit the HIV infection. Yes, the HIV-transmission/acquisition risk may be less, but it certainly is not completely eliminated.

The take-home message is: Cover the stump before you hump!

Dr. Bob
