Allergic to latex and polyurethane?
Apr 8, 2008
A girl I am dating just told me she is allergic to latex. We tried lamb skin the first time, but (as a vegetarian) I find them really gross and can't enjoy the experience at all!!! I did some research and found out about polyurethane ones, but she says she has an allergic reaction to them too. Do I have any options at all??!?!?!?

First and perhaps most importantly, lambskin condoms are effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy but not effective in preventing HIV! Beware!
Next, latex allergy is fairly common; however, polyurethane allergy is not! I would recommend you and your girlfriend seek the help of a board certified allergist. He can perform skin tests to ascertain whether your girlfriend has true allergy or not. True latex sensitivity (allergy) can be more than annoying. In some cases it can be life threatening. Consequently it's worth documenting whether this is a true allergic phenomenon. Write back following that assessment if you are still uncertain what to do next.
