HBIG shot and HIV false positive Feb 8, 2008 Dear Dr. I recently had an HBIG shot after a high risk exposure to Hep B - I am a non responder to the vaccination. I am also currently on my 2nd course of vaccinations. Obviously I am concerned with HIV also, but will this HBIG injection affect HIV testing in any way? What are the chances of a false positive? Will the testing centre need to know that I have had the shot? How long do i have to wait to get a conclusive HIV test? Rgds, BT |

 Hello BT, HBIG should not cause false-positive HIV-screening tests. HIV-antibody tests taken prior to three months are not considered to be conclusive. Dr. Bob | ||||||||
