am I gay because my dad is gay? Jan 5, 2008 Hello Robert, I know that this site is about aids but I have a question which I cluldnt find the answer my whole life. My father is gay and I am gay too. Am I gay because my father is gay? I always blame my dad for being gay. Am I right? Is being gay genetic? I will be grateful if you could anser my question. |

 Hi, Well, I'm gay but my father is straight as a lawn dart. So that genetics theory certainly is not a sure thing. Why "blame" your dad? Sexual orientation isn't anyone's fault any more than skin color is. It's just who you are. Stop blaming your dad or anyone/anything else for your sexual orientation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay, despite what you might hear from Huckabee, Romney, Dubya, the Vatican and Saturday Night Live's Church Lady. OK? If you are having difficulty accepting your sexual orientation, counseling may help you realize that being gay is indeed completely normal. Hope that helps. Dr. Bob | ||||||||
