| one more person with extreme hiv phobia Jan 5, 2008 Dear Dr. Bob: For about ten years, I carried extreme fear of hiv-aids in spite of several negative tests and low risk behavior. 6 years ago before becoming pregnant, I tested again--as usual, negative. My husband tested negative too. After 6 years, this phobia popped up again with a vengeance! So, remind me of one thing--Last week, I cut my finger at work on a knife used by someone who later told me he cut himself the day before. He is known to have a busy sex life and all of a sudden, I'm sure I'm infected. I already have had therapy for this and take anti-anxiety medication. So just remind me that HIV cannot live for but a few minutes outside the body. From what I've told you, there's no way I am infected, right? |
