HI Dr Frascino, I believe this hasn't been asked here before - I did search. I was doing deadlifts at the gym, and scraped my shin with the barbell, and this did result in a superficial scrape with a little blood, which I cleaned a few minutes later with soap and water. If someone else had scraped their leg(which does happen at this gym) could this expose me to HIV? I know noone used this bar for 1/2 an hour before I did. I'm so nervous about this, I know i'm HIV negative, I had a test recently? Should I get retested, or can I forget this.

Response from Dr. Frascino

Your HIV risk is nonexistent. HIV doesn't live very long at all outside the body. Deadlifts are painful enough without adding the psychological pain of possible HIV infection! I see no cause for concern or HIV testing.

See you at the pec deck.

Dr. Bob

Please help me, Dr Bob!!!
Dr. Bob, I really trust you
