Barebacking at Southern Decadence
Sep 2, 2007

I live in New Orleans and Southern Decadence has started. If you look at Craig's List for our area you see many folks looking for barebacking orgy sessions. Many other potentially unsafe acts are being advertised as well. I am so sad to see this Dr. Bob. What is it that people don't understand? Why can't they have great fun but have fun safely? Is public health education failing somehow? Thanks for listening. You are a fantastic and inspirational guy. Thanks for all you do. Saddened in New Orleans

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hello Saddened in New Orleans,

Is public health sex education failing? Absofrickinlutely!!!! When is the last time you saw a safer sex or condom ad on TV? And have you seen Dubya's "abstinence-only" sex education curriculum? It's science-phobic and morally indefensible. He's not creating more rosy cheeked virgins, but rather more risky sexual behavior among uninformed horned-up sexually active young adults! Abstinence-only programs for HIV prevention do not work. Period. Multiple reviews of randomized controlled trials published in many respectable medical journals most recently the British Medical Journal have proven this beyond any reasonable doubt! The recently published report (British Medical Journal) covered 13 studies involving more than 15,000 young Americans. Compared to control groups, the abstinence-only programs had no significant effect on decreasing risky sexual behavior! In fact exactly none of the abstinence-only programs showed any significant difference in preventing pregnancy, reducing unprotected sex or delaying sexual initiation. This is yet another tragic legacy of Dubya's incompetence and science-proof brain. Watch for a more appropriate scientifically sound and common sense approach to HIV prevention and sex education once Dubya and his cronies are run out of town. His cronies seem to be leaving in droves lately like rats jumping off a sinking ship!

Dr. Bob
