|The real risks of receptive oral sex
Aug 29, 2007
Hi and thanks for the forum. I'm seeing this really great negative guy who really loves my oral sex skills. I've talked to him about the slight risks, but he seems unfazed and refuses to wear a condom. He says he can't maintain an erection while wearing one. What are the risks for transmission for an uncircumcised man receiving oral sex from an undetectable, otherwise healthy, poz guy?

I've covered this topic so many times the answers are now listed in the archives under the "Department of Redundancy Department." However, since repetition is indeed the mother of all learning, I'll reiterate my comments once again.
The estimated per-act risk for acquiring HIV from unprotected insertive oral sex with a poz partner is 0.5 per 10,000 exposures. Considering your viral load is undetectable, your estimated risk may be even less. So whether your "oral skills" include being able to suck the chrome off a car bumper or open a ketchup bottle using only your tongue, both you and your top-gun popsicle need to be both cognizant and comfortable with this degree of risk. I can advise you that many magnetic couples are, but not all.
