Sex Worker Along Mexican Border
Aug 19, 2007
I had protected sex with a female sex worker in Ciudad Juarez. However, she had sex with another guy right before I did the deed. Is this a high risk case that would require PEP? PLEASE respond! Thanks!

If your sexual activity with the Ciudad Juarez "mamá caliente" was "protected," your HIV-transmission risk would be essentially nonexistent. That she shagged another guy right before you does not change your risk, assuming the latex condom was used properly and did not fail (break). In fact, even if she had been banging harder than a screen door in a hurricane or seen more ceilings than Michelangelo, your HIV risk would not change! Do you need PEP? No, of course not!
