Hi I am an 18 year old girl who was raped(3 times without a condom) on June 11, 2007 on June 14 and Aug 4, 2007 I tested negative for hiv, This was my first sexual experience and I had a lot of bleeding. I contracted herpes from this event and now I have bacterial vaginal infection(treating with metronidazole)... I think I am getting flu like symptoms but not strong enough to keep me from working... What is your opinion... do I have hiv... what are the statitics?

Hopefully you have been evaluated and treated at a rape crisis center and are receiving ongoing attention. Also, hopefully the rapist has been caught and is now behind bars!
Your negative HIV test nearly two months after the rape is very encouraging, but not conclusive. You'll need to retest at the three-month mark.
Regarding "statistics," the best I can offer is the estimated per-act risk for acquiring HIV from unprotected receptive penile-vaginal intercourse with a partner confirmed to be HIV positive. That statistic is 10 per 10,000 exposures. Your estimated risk would be even lower, as we do not know the HIV status of your attacker.
Do I think you have contracted HIV? No, most likely not, as the statistical odds are very much against it (negative HIV test at two months). However, only a negative HIV test at three months or more will be able to give you a more definitive answer.
