Blood work and HIV Test Jun 17, 2007 Hi, My doctor after a routine examination explained to me that if your blood work e.g. WBC shows normal range, it can almost be a proxy for an HIV test beacuse if HIV infected one's WBC result in blood test would be very high. Is this correct. Please advice. |

 Hi, Are you sure he's a real doctor? Or is he just a proxy? I do not agree! There are no proxies for an HIV test and to suggest a WBC count can be used in that way demonstrates a shocking lack of basic HIV medical knowledge. WBC counts can be up, down or normal in HIVers. The only way to tell if you've contracted HIV is to get an HIV-specific test outside the window period. Period. Dr. Bob | ||||||||
