4 times answer pls.I want donate and i need yr opinion.test 5 months.
Jun 12, 2007

hi dr bob. pls answer, pls. I want donate!

After two vaginal sex with two sexworkers(condom seems not broken, because I've see sperm into the condom at the end, but I don't know if were microholes because I haven't blow up or if the condoms was lambskin)I've developped many sympthoms(this sympthoms have me orientated to the hiv, because I don't know about lambskin existent and microholes during the act).

So after 5 months and 7 days I've do my first test for hiv of my life.

Hiv ab/ag Negative.

It's a good test?(no talk about elisa or other type..only this words.) My result is definitive? Can be false negative? Can occour an error from laboratory? help me.

I love you dr.bob, u are great. thanks thank thanks. Roberto, italy.

Response from Dr. Frascino

Buon giorno, Roberto,

Rilassa! Tutto va bene!

Your negative five-month/seven-day HIV test is definitive and conclusive. The "HIV ab" part of the test is equivalent to an "ELISA." The "ag" part is most likely a p24 antigen, which adds further evidence that you are HIV negative. HIV is not your problem, Robert! No way. No how! So yell OPLA! (which I think is Italian for WOO-HOO!) and stop worrying, OK? Your concerns about false-negatives and laboratory error are unwarranted. Also, I should mention that sex workers are usually well informed about how to protect themselves from their clients. Consequently, they would have no reason to use higher priced lambskin condoms, which, while protecting against pregnancy, do not protect against HIV. For future reference, next time you decide to take a walk on the wild side, bring your own condom! That way you can avoid having these post-sex doubts, OK?

Ciao!

Dr. Bob
