Worried, finger, special circumstances
Apr 27, 2007
Dr Frascino, I am sorry to trouble you again but I could really use your help. I have written about this yesterday as well but I got no answer. Anyway all the other things I asked in my message are covered in your forum, so the main thing is only this. I have fingered a sex worker while in warm water in a bath tub. The special issue is that the back of my finger was sore because of cold weather. Is this a significant risk? Should I get tested for HIV? I suppose I could anyway but I tend to worry a lot so I have been tested quite a few times over the years. If you would be so kind as to answer this I would be very grateful. I am in Greece, if this helps...
Response from Dr. Frascino
"Fingering" is not considered an HIV risk, if the skin on your fingers is intact. I have no way of evaluating what you mean by "my finger was sore because of cold weather." If you did not have fresh open wounds, I would say your risk is negligible to nonexistent. However, if you are worried, the option of getting a three-month test is always open to you.
I'm sending you my good-luck/good-health karma! OK?
